Departments
The rights departments at BookEnds oversee submission and sales for foreign, film, television, merchandise, audio, art licensing, and all other media rights. Expand the sections below to get to know the team:
-
Maggie Nambot is the Accounts Payable Specialist at BookEnds. She handles all outgoing money to authors and makes sure every penny is accounted for. Seeing her name in your inbox usually means that a payment is on its way, but she's also the one preparing and releasing 1099s each January. Maggie is the person to reach out to with questions regarding Veem, the direct deposit service we use at BookEnds, or any payment related clarifications.
Maggie is an avid sports fan and obsessive hobbyist. She lives in Central Florida with her pack of feral (yet adorable) sons, and chasing them around is her primary form of exercise. She turns to fictional worlds to escape reality and is particularly fond of lush worldbuilding and high stakes adventures. In addition to her banking duties, Maggie also assists Senior Agent Kim Lionetti.
Sarah Butler is BookEnds' royalty manager, as well as handling accounts receivable. She oversees all incoming payments for advances or royalties from the over 200 publishers and coagents that BookEnds works with. It's her job to make sure payments are matched to the correct authors and illustrators, and she's the first critical eye that checks the commission amount and any deductions the publisher might have taken out. For royalties, she's the one making sure all the numbers add up, hunting down late statements, and separating each client's statement out of 1000-page or more documents before emailing them individually every Friday.
Sarah's a musician and a linguist by training, and still plays clarinet around New Jersey with various orchestras and performing groups. When she needs to make numbers stop swimming around her brain, you can find her knitting, reading, painting, or camping out in the woods.

At the Global Rights department, we make your book travel around the world! When we retain translation rights, we negotiate those rights for translation in foreign countries through our network of coagents—who are experts working locally, so they know each territory and their publishers very well—to be able to find the best homes for our titles. Just like your agent does in the English-language market.
If you have a backlist of your own published titles that you'd like us to shop for you abroad, make sure to submit the Prior Publications Worksheet (found in the client portal) so we have information about all the titles, with materials, dates of publication, any previous sales, etc.
Ana Ban, the Director of Global Rights, with the assistance of Sophie Sheumaker, creates strategies to pitch books in the foreign markets and is in constant contact with the coagents, updating them with fresh materials and information such as inclusion in bestselling lists, awards, film deals—and any good news related to our titles.
Ana also attends annually the Frankfurt Book Fair, the largest international gathering of publishers and rights sellers, to present our frontlist. In five days and more than sixty meetings, she talks to editors from every corner of the world, establishing close contacts and etching the BookEnds' brand on people's minds.
We cannot wait to have your books to send out to the world!

Our Media Rights department handles both film/tv and merchandising rights. On the film/tv side, we work closely with media rights agents, producers, and studios to bring compelling literary properties to screen. With almost a dozen film and television deals secured in just the last year, BookEnds continues to expand its presence in the adaptation space and discover new opportunities for its authors’ work. Our Media Rights Director, Dakota Reed, attends international festivals and trade shows to pitch our authors’ books directly to filmmakers, including the London Book Fair, Frankfurt Book Fair, and Venice Film Festival’s Book Adaptation Rights Market.
For merchandising, we actively pursue opportunities to bring our author’s books and characters beyond the page. We work with a wide range of partners, from independent creators to established companies such as Out of Print, Kingdom of Thread, and Ripple Junction, whose licensed merchandise reaches major retail stores. Whether it’s apparel, accessories, gifts, or other consumer products, we look for creative partnerships that expand a book’s audience and give readers new ways to engage with the stories and characters they love.
-
The Audio department is designed to help authors pursue every avenue to get an audiobook edition of their book produced. When the author retains their audio rights—whether after selling to a publisher or opting to self-publish—their agent will work closely with Keifer Ludwig, the Audio Manager of BookEnds, to create a submission plan specific to your book.
We have facilitated dozens of auctions and sold audiobooks to every major audiobook publisher in the US. We help authors partner not just for the highest advance, but by placing prime importance on which publisher will give the audio edition the time, promotion, and attention it deserves.
We are fierce advocates for authors’ audio rights and believe that their stories deserve not just to be read, but to be told to readers all over the world.
